“Regional, Global and the Meta Verse”, was the title of the one-day online conference carried out on Oct. 31st, 2022, at Sofia University, Bulgaria. The conference was organized by the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication, and gathered over 30 representatives from nine countries, including Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, USA and others. Digital media usage, safe internet, and augmented reality applications shaped the event’s focus, opened by Prof. Teodora Petrova, Head of the Department of Communication and Audiovisual Production. In her official address, she underlined the importance of the issues discussed in general and, more specifically, stressed the opportunities the theme offers for enhanced regional and global cooperation. Along with presentations touching on various aspects of global security, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine, safe internet usage and prevention of worldwide cyberattacks were discussed, as well as different projects implemented in the field of the metaverse. Prof. Danail Danov from Sofia University introduced the panelists to the European Safe Online Initiative, and opened a discussion on the ways the project could get implemented in other countries.
